wtcBB Features

Automatic Installation and Upgrading
No, that wasn't a typo. wtcBB will be the first to fully feature automatic installation and upgrading of the system. You will no longer have to download a big zip file and upload every single file, and you will no longer have to worry about configuration files or chmodding issues. Upgrading will be as simple as going into your control panel and hitting the "Upgrade" button.

Not only that, but wtcBB will feature the automatic installation of modifications. You will be able to browse through existing modifications in your control panel, hit install, and watch the magic! Because of this new method, you will also be able to uninstall modifications. Not only that, but wtcBB will re-install all your modifications for you when you upgrade! No longer will you waste hours comparing each file and re-inserting changes!

Personal Messaging
The personal messaging system has been completely revamped with usability, organization, and flexibility in mind. Now you don't have to worry about cluttering up your inbox with messages back and forth to one person, as messages are now grouped together in things called "Conversation." When you send someone (or many people) a message, a new conversation is created. Everyone you sent that message to can now see that conversation. When someone replies to you, that someone is also replying to everyone else in the conversation. This new messaging system could be easily described as "private threads." Including such things as multi-quote, quick reply, and more.

Templating and Styling
The style system in wtcBB has been re-created to be easier to use and give more control in the hands of administrators without the feeling of being overwhelmed. Colors, fonts, and other customizable areas of the forum style are grouped together and easily modified without the knowledge of such things like CSS and HTML. Not only that, but advanced users can go right into the templates and modify the HTML to whatever their choosing. The templating systems gives you complete control over how your forum looks and works.

Not only that, but the style system is based on inheritance. For example, one style can inherit information (such as styling and/or templates) from another style (its parent style). So for instance, lets say you like you have four different styles- one for each season of the year. If they are all separate from each other, what happens when you need to modify HTML in all four styles? Going through each style is hardly fun. However, with style inheritance, you can create one parent style that has four "child" styles. Each child style inherits all the basic information from the parent style, while still giving you the ability to override each style and provide a "season" look. Editing the parent style once will cascade the changes throughout its child styles.

Language Manager
Want to change a word or phrase that you see in wtcBB? You no longer have to go digging through the template system, or through lines of code in files. You can simply use the control panel to search for the word or phrase you want, and simply change it. This allows for absolute word customization without any hassle. Not only that, but this also provides one central location for translating every single word or phrase on wtcBB into another language. You can even add multiple languages and allow users to chose their own!

Multiple Usergroups
With wtcBB, you can now specify multiple usergroup ownership for each user. This allows you to mix and combine usergroup permissions on a given group of users. For example, lets say you want to grant access to a forum for a given group of registered users and moderators. In a normal usergroup system, you would need to override each user's setting and force them to see the forum. As setting either usergroup to see the forum would expose the forum to all members of that usergroup. Changing a user's group isn't an option either, as you don't want registered users to have moderator privileges and vice versa. With wtcBB 2, all you need to do is create an additional usergroup (call it "Registerators"), assign permissions to that usergroup for viewing that forum, then assign this usergroup as a secondary usergroup for each user whom you want to see the forum. The higher permissions in the "Registerators" group overrides the moderator and registered users groups, and grants them access. Because of the extensibility provided here, you can easily restrict (or un-restrict) access on a number of levels to all the users you assigned to the "Registerators" usergroup.

It doesn't stop there, with "Usergroup Automations" you can specify that user's be assigned to a new usergroup (as a primary or secondary group) based on how long they have been registered and/or their post count. This allows you to assign perks to seasoned users with the snap of your fingers!
